Coming to Ourense

Ourense, an urban referent of the Galicia of the interior, acts thanks to its location as an axis of communications connecting the Atlantic Galicia with the rest of Spain. Besides, the city holds a narrow contact with Portugal, whose frontier is 60km away.

BY ROAD

By your own car or by coach, Ourense counts with advantageous transportation facilities that ease the trip. The main Galician cities, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, and Vigo, are connected by highways and freeways placed within 200 kilometers of distance. The A-52 situates the city 4 hours away from Madrid, and Porto, the second most important Portuguese city, is situated less than 2 hours away.

TRAIN

Another good option is the train. With three connections with the rest of Spain, Ourense is waiting for the commissioning of the AVE line that communicates the city with Madrid in 2 hours and a half. The new trains AVANT connect A Coruña with Ourense in only 1 hour and 10 minutes, and Santiago de Compostela in 38 minutes. You can check the timetables and combinations in RENFE’s webpage. These are the links of the webpage in the different languages.

PLANE

Although Ourense does not count with airport, the excellent combinations situate the three Galician International Airports one step away from the city. Peinador Airport, in Vigo, is 90 kms away, Lavacolla in Santiago de Compostela, 115 kms away, and Alvedro, in A Coruña, 176 kms away. It is also possible to travel from Sá Carneiro, in Porto, which is within less than two hours of journey.
